A Storm at Sea

*IT was a still morning, so still that tho sea looked like glass, so still that every rock and tree on the shore was reflected as in a mirror and the fallen rata blossoms, tweaked from their stems by bellbirds in search of honey, lay like tiny scarlet tassels on its quiet surface. There was no sun, yet the air was very soft, and warm, and it was still with an amazing stillness. The glassy water, the floating flowers, the motionless shores, the low grey clouds altogether gave a mysterious feeling. A puff of wind sent a ripple trembling through the "water and a few big drops splashed into it. the mountainous waves buffeting her sides. Now she was on a mountain, now in a valley. On she came in gallant combat, racing through an eternity of troubled witter. Her mighty timbers bulged and bent, as the endless train of waves continued their mad rush forward.

As the dawn of another day was breaking the wind ceased howling and there was a lull. The victorious ship sped on. and was soon out of sight.
