MAORI CONVICTED
ELDERLY MAN ASSAULTED A Maori, William Walker, aged 34, gumdiggor, was charged in the Police Court, before Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., yesterday with assaulting an elderly man, Francis Joseph Berringer, on Thursday. Accused pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector J. Fox said accused walked up to the complainant, who was aged 71, and said he was goin"; to have a "go" with him.. Accused then struck the complainant on the face. Accused had a of taking too much liquor. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. "Further, ho was ordered to pay costs. Ss, and to take out a prohibition order.
