A fast and open exhibition of the code is expected. The curtain-raiser will he between City and Ponsunby, anil a keen strugglq should result. It its backlino can function as well as it is capable of. Ponsonby should bt> bard to defeat, although City should hold the advantage in the forwards. An interesting strugglo is likely on No. 2 ground between North Shore and Marist. Newton should gain its first points at the expenso of Papakura In the curtain-raiser on No. 2 ground. TOUR TO ENGLAND SOUTH ISLAND COMPLAINT [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION*] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Keen disappointment is felt by Rugby League officials and players in the South Island at the manner in which the choice of the managers and selectors for the New Zealand team's English tour was made. It is felt that three leagues in the south have been ignored. Four Aucklanders fill positions, Messrs. J. A. Redwood and G. Grey Campbell as managers and Messrs. A. T. McCi.vmont and J. A. lirdwood as selectors.
The South Island feeling is that the New Zealand Council and the Auckland Rugby League have again displayed a parochial attitude which has always influenced their decisions. In. spile of assurances that tho louring team was to be a national concern tho South Island's claims to representation have been forgotten. A motion will be tabled at a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League on Monday night instructing this league's delegate to the New Zealand council to put in a notice of motion to have the choice of managers and selectors reconsidered.
