BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
ACTIVITIES OF LEAGUE REFERENCE IN THE CHURCHES To mark the occasion of "Bible Sunday," special reference will be made in city and suburban churches to-morrow to the work of the New Zealand Bible in Schools League. All the seven denominations supporting the movement are co-operating to-morrow, and sermons will contain references to the elforts made by the association among the children in the Dominion's schools. It was stated yesterday that the daily five minutes' religious observances, approved by seven out of nine education boards, were now well established in some 400 schools. About 900 schools under all boards .had the weekly halfhour of Bible instruction. The league's work was influencing 100.000 citizens during the years of childhood. The observance of "Bible Sunday" is primarily a recognition of the work of the British and Foreign Bible Society, which, since its foundation in 1804, has extended its influence to the furthermost corners of the world. Each year the society distributes more than 11,000.000 copies of the Scriptures in hundreds of languages. They have today been translated into over 1000 languages and dialects.
