INTERESTED CROWDS DOGS ON EXHIBITION AMUSEMENTS FOR VISITORS MANY MORE EVENTS TO-DAY Attendances were again good at the Auckland Winter Exhibition yesterday, much interest being focussed on the Auckland Kennel Club's dog show, which occupied two pavilions. The arrangements for display were perfectly satisfactory from the public point of view and keen interest was taken in several breeds new to many who passed through the show. The chief event in the ring during the afternoon was a jumping competition, while Frank McFnrhine, the American cowboy, gave an exhibition with a trained pony which was warmly applauded. Two trotting events were contested in tho Oval during tho evening. Turns also were given by the Span-ish-American riders and McFafclane, who jumped a horso in spectacular manner over a burning obstacle.

A full programme has been arranged for to-day. Tho dog show will be continued and the Highland and national doncing competitions, which will begin this afternoon,' should prove a popular feature. The afternoon ring event will be the Manukau Trotting Handicap, with displays by the trick riders and other entertainers. A one mile saddle trotting V event will be decided in the evening, and an interlude will bo provided by Tex Moran and his trained bull.

SPECIAL PRIZES SCHOOLS CHALLENGE SHIELDS Special prizes in the various sections were awarded as follows: — Hoots Section.—N. Hughes. Vegetable section: Division 1, A. Brown; division 2, G. Creamer. Table poultry (Peter Nola Cup): H. Belin. Primary schools challenge shield: Wellesley Street School. Secondary schools challenge shield: Auckland Grammar School. Westbrooke Cup in honey section: H. J. Jull. New Zealand Wool Marketing Association Cup in fleece wool section: J. C. Field. JUMPING EVENT Nine entries were received for the tally-ho jumping competition held in the oval yesterday afternoon, and a generally good standard was shown by the riders. The event resulted as follows: — Mrs. Martin "Johnson's "Whoopee (Mrs. Martin Johnson), 1; Mr. N. «T. Taylor's Englishman (Mr. Noel Taylor). 2; Mr. P. H. Smith's Over, She Goes (Mr. P. H. Smith), 3. TROTTING RACES The results of the two trotting events held yesterday are as follows: —Showground Handicap: Fisher. 1; Tumble. 2; Post Haste, 3. Won by half a length. Cornwall Handicap: Television, 1; Worthy Quest, 2; Fisher, 3. Won by half a furlong. WAIKATO FIXTURE SUBSTANTIAL ENTRIES ALL FLOOR SPACE BOOKED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday A large number of entries has been received for the Waikato Winter Show, which is to be held from May 30 to June 6, and it appears likely that new records will be established in many sections.

The secretary of the winter show committee, Mr. W. H. Paul, stated today that all the available floor space had been booked and that 011 Monday week a start would be made with the construction of stalls in Blodisloe Hall. In the coining week 800 ft. of fencing will be erected to enclose the association's outside area. A busy time has been experienced by the committee dealing with tlu» health and fitness display. Hundreds of posters and booklets have been received from many parts of the world and a great deaf of work has been entailed in mounting them so that they can bo exhibited to the best advantage. A feature of the show will _be a demonstration dealing with pig diseases, to be given by officers of the Department of Agriculture.
