FARM DEVELOPMENT
PROPOSAL BY OCCUPIERS TWO-YEAR TERM SUGGESTED {by telegraph—own correspondent! TE KUITr, Friday More than 50 occupiers under the farm, development scheme attended a meeting in Te Kuiti to consider the report of Mr. J. Jones, the secretary of their association, who had made representations in Wellington on their, behalf on the question of tenure. At the meeting fifteen blocks were represented.
The proposal Mr. .Tones put forward was that occupiers should be given an opportunity to develop their properties for two years under supervision, so that it could be ascertained whether their efficiency and the productivity of the sections warranted the allocation nf titles. In this manner it was felt both the interests of the occupier and the Crown would be adequately safeguarded. Mr. Jones reported that the actingMinister of Lands, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, agreed that it was a reasonable scheme and said thnt after a consultation with the officers of the farm development branch a decision on this matter would be made.
Appreciation was expressed at the Minister's readiness to consider the proposal.
