ADULTERATED BUTTER
APPEARANCE IN BERLIN REFUSAL BY HOUSEWIVES LONDON, April 28 German housewives, during their week-end shopping at the large markets, angrily refused to purchase butter because of its unappetising appearance, says the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph It was obviously adulterated and was variously coloured from a bright yellow to a sickly white. This, says the correspondent, follows similar incidents in which shoppers were arrested for criticising prices and quality. Newspapers resent foreign references to the food situation. The "12-Uhr Blatt" attacks the democracies for mentioning the distribution of antiNazi handbills in Danzig, inscribed: "Danzig wants butter, not Hitler."
