ORDERS FOR STEEL
BRITISH GOVERNMENT IMPORTS FROM AUSTRALIA USE IN AIR RAID SHELTERS (Received May 4, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 4 It is announced that orders for more than 50,000 tons of steel plate and 10,000 tons of"galvanised iron have been received by Newcastle and Port Kembla establishments on behalf of the British Government. The British Government is utilising the steel and iron imports for the building of air raid shelters, and shipments will begin as early as possible.
