SOCIAL SECURITY TAX
Sir, —As another domestic of quite a number of years' experience, I would like to add a few lines with reference to the social security scheme. I thought the Labour Government would have helped where help was badly needed, but instead they have made our lot harder.
1 do not object to paying the 5s registration fee, but it is unfair and unjust to expect us to pay tax on our, hard-earned wages, of which we need every penny. Earning £1 a wee"k, with 2 s (including tax on board), taken off for tax and paying out 3s a week on my own life insurance, which I do not wish to give up after having maintained payments for a number of years, I am left with 15s a week for all necessities. Some of our members of Parliament should try living on 15s a week for a while. I think tho tax would .then soon' be lifted. Still Another Domestic.
