PORT CONGESTION

SOME BELIEF TO-BAY SEVERAL SHIPS LEAVING ALL BERTHS STILL OCCUPIED Although three ships were at anchor in the stream yesterday waiting for berths the serious congestion which has ruled at the Auckland wharves during the week will be eased to-day with the departure of several large vessels. Wharf space is still fully occupied and considerable congestion is being experienced in sheds, into which numbers of ships are discharging heavy cargoes. The Bank Line motor-ship Willowbank, after waiting at anchor since Tuesday morning, will berth this morning at Central Wharf, to land phosphate from Nauru Island, and the M.A.N.Z. Line steamer City of Delhi, which arrived from Halifax on Tuesday night, will berth to-morrow at Prince's Wharf. The Union Company's steamer Komata, with Australian cargo, Avaited yesterday at Calliope Wharf and will move this morning to discharge at Prince's Wharf. As space shortage will prevent the work being carried out at her berth the Port Line steamer Port Caroline will move into the stream from Prince's Wharf at 6.30 this morning for engine repairs. She should sail to-night for London. Tho Finnish barque Killoran, which has been at anchor since her arrival from the Seychelles at the weekend, will probably not berth for Bome days.
