FIGHT IN NIGHT CLUB ITALIANS ATTACK SOLDIERS BOTTLES AND CHAIRS USED SEVERAL MEN INJURED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Independent Cable Service (Received April 13, 12.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, April 12 Forty-two Italians attacked a small band of British, French and American soldiers in a night club, using bottles and chairs. Italian officers got their men back to barracks except for four who had been knocked out by punches. Three French soldiers received severe head wounds and a Seaforth Highlander a cut on the forehead. A Russian dancer was sent to hospital.
RENEWED TENSION POLAND AND GERMANY "PERSECUTIONS" REPORTED TROOP MOVEMENTS DENIED (Received April 12, 7.58 p.m.) LONDON, April 12 The correspondent of The Times at Warsaw says the so-called PolishGerman minority tension has been given fresh prominence. It is alleged the Poles in Germany are being persecuted, and the view that this is not merely duo to the zeal of local authorities is strengthened by the provocative behaviour of the Germans in Poland. The Polish Ambassador to Germany, M. Lipski, has gone to Warsaw to report on his conversations with the German Foreign Minister, Herr von Ribbentrop, on April 6 and 8. Rumours of troop movements toward Poland are officially denied.
