ENGINEER RESIGNS
WAIPA COUNTY OFFICIAL LONG TERM OF SERVICE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday The resignation of Mr. J. W. Civil, engineer to the Waipa County for the past 19 years, was received at a meeting of the council. Mr. Civil asked that he be allowed to terminate his services on June 30, after which he intended to live in retirement. Mr. Civil said he would have happy memories of his associations with the councillors and staff, whom he thanked for the friendly and helpful attitude they had shown. Itegret at Mr. Civil's decision to retire was expressed by the chairman, Mr. A. C. Macky, who paid a tribute to the qualities of the engineer. Other members spoke of the services Mr. Civil had rendered to the county over bo many years and regretted his decision. -- It was decided to invite applications for a new county engineer.
