SCHOOL ATHLETES

MEETING THIS MONTH AUCKLAND PRIMARY EVENTS RECORD ENTRY OF 13,000 Arrangements for New Zealand's largest sports meeting, the annual sports of the Auckland Primary Schools' Amateur Athletic Association, have now reached an advanced stage. When entries closed on Friday last a record of approximately 13,000 entries had boon received. This huge total represents largely the cream of the primary schools' athletic talent of some 60 city and suburban schools, the organisation of which presents a task of no mean proportion. The president, Mr. J. W. McGechie, Parnell School, and secretariat, Messrs. T. G. Hamilton, Parnell, R. Tizard, Meadowbank, and A. C. Richards, New Lynn, together with an energetic executive, have left no stone unturned to ensure the successful functioning of this mammoth sports gathering. In order to encourage team efforts, and to ensure a more spectacular display, a variety of new team Raines has been included in this year's programme. A further innovation is the staffing of the ever-popular massed folk dancing display for boys as well as girls. During' the 1 (MS meeting several records were either broken or equalled, and it is confidently anticipated that, [riven fino conditions on Wednesday, March 'l 2, further interesting results will be acliioved at the Auckland Domain.
