ELECTING NEW POPE
EVE OF THE CONCLAVE BROADCASTS ARHANGEO PROGRESS OF THE VOTING VATICAN CITY. Feb. 27 A . film of the Conclave of Cardinals will be taken, but not during the actual proceedings, which will be commenced on Wednesday. It is intended that the Vatican station twice daily will broadcast in the chief languages: the progress of : the voting, and then the final choice. Simultaneously an announcement will be made to the crowd in St. Peter's Square. Somo of £he Italian newspapers discuss the possibility of a, non-Italian Pope, and mention Cardinal Goncalves Cerejeira, of. Lisbon, and Cardinal Villeneuvo, of Quebec. The names chiefly subject to general speculation are those of Cardinals Marmaggi, Massini, Schuster,, Dalla-Costa and Maglione.
ENSURING SECRECY SEALED DOORS AND WINDOWS TELEPHONES CUT OFF _ ; ' ROME, Feb, i>2 Furniture and bedding; have been taken into the court of St. Damascus, where the Conclave of 62 Cardinals, to elect a successor to Pope Pius XI., Trill deliberate. Each Cardinal will be attended by two servants. AJI the outer doors will be locked smd sealed. Ail the windows will be sealed and whitewashed. Telephones will be cut off to ensure absolute secrecy.
