LEARN TO SWIM

Sir, —The organisers of the learn to swim campaign and the professional and amateur instructors deserve the thanks of the public for their efforts. On visiting the baths and beaches 1 was astonished to see how the instructors gained the confidence of the learners and the rapid way they put them through the initial stages. I saw a man of 67 swimming very short period of instruction; and in the swimming baths a little boy of 3} years swimming with his parents. It is to be hoped that the authorities will carry on the good work and if funds are required it will be money well spent. S. A. Shaw.
