DAMAGES FOR WIDOW
JUDGMENT BY CONSENT Judgment by consent for defendant was given by Mr. Justice Fair in the Supreme Court yesterday in an accident claim in which Mary Agnes Florence Duke, widow, of Auckland (Mr. Lennard), sought from Ethel Elsie May Clarke, widow, of Tnkapuna (Mr. V. R. Meredith), sums of £IOOO general and £'26 10s special damages. The claim arose through the death of plaintiff's husband, John H. B. Duke, a carpenter, following a collision with a motor-car as ho was cycling across Mount Eden Road toward Enfield Street on Mav 16, 1038. The car was owned bv defendant and plaintiff claimed that the driver, Harry Lewis Clarke, was an authorised agent of defendant. Judgment was given for defendant without costs.
