R. Semple, officiated. Prior to the actual ceremony the assembly gathered in the Town Hall at a function presided over by the Mayor of Huntiy, Mr. W. C. J5. George. Girls from the Huntiy District High School and St. Anthony's Convent presented Mrs. Semple and Mrs. George with bouquets. Mr. Semple was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon-. W. Lee Martin, Mr. C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, and Mr. F. E. Dyson, Auckland district engineer to the Public Works Department. With Mr. George were members of the Huntiy Borough Council, engineers of local bodies concerned and representatives of the various contracting firms. "This event marks another milestone in the progress of Huntiy," said Mr. George. "A water supply for a town, especially Huntiy, is an absolute necessity, because we have long been looking forward to participating in some of the new industries in New Zealand." In extending his congratulations to the Mayor and citizens of Huntiy Mr* Semple said the reservoir had a capacity of 150,000 gallons and would provide an ample supply for up to 2000 Huntiy residents with a daily allowance of 30 gallons a head. The storage capacity provided for a two and a-half day supply. The modern filtration system was capable of handling 10,000 gallons an hour. "Besides' serving drinking and domestic needs you now have ample supply for fire-fighting purposes," said Mr. Semple. "That has been a cause of considerable concern in the past." The supply was turned on in the main street by Mr. Semple, a good pressure being obtained from a hose about a chain away. Many of the spectators were soaked by spray from the hose.
