decrease in supplies Owing in part to a seasonal shortage, retail prices for hen eggs in Auckland are high at present, first grade costing 2s 4d a dozen. With the beginning of the moulting period for older birds about this time, supplies decrease, and the position is aggravated if pullets hatched in September have not reached their peak production. Prices, however, are not higher than at the same time last year, when the same factors apparently were operating. Egg prices in Wellington fell on Monday after being high for some time, and a decrease is expected in Auckland shortly.
