DAMAGE BY FIRES
OUTBREAK AT REMUERA SCRUB AREA IN FLAMES —— "... f A detached wash-house at the back 1 of a residence at 10 Sea view Road, Remuera. owned and occupied by Mr. A. E. Hammer, was badly damaged by a fire which broke out at about one o'clock yesterday afternoon. Engines from the Parnell and Remuera fire stations answered the call and the fire was extinguished with little difficulty. Several acres of scrub and gorse in Eerndale Road, Mount Wellington, were involved in an outbreak of firs which burned for over two hours yesterday afternoon. Firemen from the Great South Road fire station finally extinguished the flames.
