Beach Championships
RACING AT MURIWAI L. PERRY'S TRIPLE SUCCESS Although the beach at Muriwai was holding last Sunday, the weather was ideal for the New Zealand beach championships, held bv the Auckland MotorCycle Club. A crowd of about 400 visited Muriwai to witness a series of thrilling events. , Tho three divisions of the championshin were won by L. Perry, riding a Velocette machine in each class. Ihe 500 c.c. race was the most keenly contested, a. margin of 100 yards separating Perry from the second ruler, H. Mathews, on a Rudge, at the tape. Results were as follows:350 c.c. Championships, 10 miles.—L. Perry, 1; J. Phillips, Velocette, 2; L. Tapp, Velocette, 3. 500 c.c. Championship, 20 miles. —L. Perry, 1; H. IVlathcws, 2] «J. D&lo> U.S.A., 3. Time, 16m 29s Open Championship, -20 miles. —L. Perry, 1; J. Dale, 2: A, McAulay, Levis, 3. Time.'l7m 0 2-ss. Open Handicap, 5 miles, i-mile straights.—H. Mathews, L. Perry, 2; P. Nash, 500 c.c. Ariel, 3. Open Handicap, 5 miles. —A. Cummings, Levis, 1; A- Mattson, Comet, 2; H. Mathews, 3. Touring Cvcle Handicap, 5 miles, imile straits.—A. McAulay, 1; J. Hunt, 350 c.c. Velocette, 2; P. Prentice, 500 c.c. Velocette, 3. Time, 5m 57 2-ss. Riders who intend competing at tho club's fixture at Henning's Speedway, Mnngere, on March 12, must place their entries with the secretary, together with a nomination fee of 10s each, before March 2. Entry forms aro obtainable from the secretary or cycle dealers.
