PAY ON COASTAL SHIPS APPLICATION FOR INCREASE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS association] WELLINGTON, Friday The hearing of an application for an award covering masters and officers on coastal vessels occupied the Arbitration Court to-day. The applicants claimed that they were entitled to increased wages, because in somo cases a master received less than other employees, and the altered conditions made the duties more exacting. The shipowners opposed increased wages, since masters' wages had been increased aud hours reduced bj' the last award. 4 ■■
