ROADING IMPROVEMENTS
WORK SOUTH OF TE KUITI [by telegraph—own correspondent! TE KUITI. Friday Given reasonably fine weather it is hoped that the main New Plymouth road from the Seven Mile to Piopio will have the first coat of seal applied by March 31, and it is possible that thei second coat may be applied by tha.t time.
On the hill on the main road immediately south of Te Kuiti the formation work has been practically completed as far as the 65-chain peg, and except when it interferes with the workmen, traffic is being diverted on to the new road to the junction with the original formation. Half way down the south side of the hill work is proceeding on the large cutting and filling.
It is hoped that work on the hill will be completed by Easter. About three gentle curves on the Te Kuiti side and one scarcely appreciable curve on the other side will replace a total of SJB bad corners in-a mile. When the construction is completed, a quarter of a mile will be saved.
