WHITE ANTS
Sir, —In answer to "Owner" in Tuesday's Hkrald ro protection against the pest, "Owner" will do tlie right thing if ho applies a coating of hot tar or creosote on the wooden supports from the concrete a foot or so up. But if the white ants arc already in it will be almost useless. If the following is applied it will help considerably: Bore a half-inch hole into the wooden blocks about 4in. to oin. above the ground or concrete—bore it in and downward for 4in., fill with creosote or sump oil, then cork it up. Repeat a few times a year. It may save a lot of trouble later. A.E.G. Ngongotalia.
