HEALTH CAMP BENEFITS
EFFECT OF DIET AT HOME "FOLLOW-UP" SERVICE URGED [by* telegraph—OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Friday Free medical advice and examination for school children in poor health was advocated at a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Health Camp executive when it was pointed out that the benefits children derived from periods at health camps were quickly dissipated by lack of proper diet and medical attention.
It was decided to forward the following remit to the central executive at Wellington:—" That the central executive approach the Health Department to provide suitable follow-up diet and medical attention after a child has been discharged from a health camp, and, further, to see what can be done to improve conditions in the homes of these children and to advocate to parents the advantages of th.o health camp scheme." It was suggested that these proposals could be made possible through the school medical department, which might be strengthened so that it could assist in this direction.
