STEWART ISLAND CABLE
It is unlikely that the repairs to the submarine cable to Stewart Island will be completed for another week or 10 days One mile of new cable has been laid on the Stewart Island side of Foveaux Strait, but it has been found necessary to renew another half-mile of the old cable leading to the Lee Bay cable hut. The extra length will be shipped from Wellington by the first available steamer.
