DEVONPORT FUNCTION

INTERESTING PROGRAMME ' MANY GUESTS ATTEND Charming floral decorations carried out in a colour scheme of red, white and blue, were chosen to decorate the stage and tea tabjes at the" parish hall, Devonport, yesterday afternoon, when an At Home in aid of funds for the Holy Trinity Church was arranged by Mrs. J. W. Lowe and a committee. The vicar, the Rev. B. R- Brierley, presided, and the large number of guests were received by Mrs. Brierley, assisted bv Mrs. Lowe.

A feature of the afternoon was an address by Mrs. W. H. Parlies on her impressions of the Coronation ceremony of King George VI. and Queen Elizabeth in Westminster Abbey. Another items of interest was the recital by Mr. J. W. Bailey of part of an impressive oration by Count Uchida, the Japanese diplomat.

Two songs were contributed bv Madame Mina Caldow. Mrs'. H. Bollard was the accompanist. The committee in charge of the arrangements comprised:—Mrs. A. W. Joughin, Mrs. George Carter, Mrs. G.
