TAKANINI TRIALS

SEVERAL GOOD EFFORTS

FIVE FURLONGS BY TEPOTO INVER GOES VERY FREELY There were nany smart trials on the grass at Taks nini yesterday morning, the track bein; in great order, and the gallops of Tep )to, Jack Tar, Our Jean, Royevrus, Tellsom (the Bronze Eagle— Silent Miss celt), Miss Eureka, Valamito and Round Up were all worthy of attention.

Most of tha sprints were to discs round the ba'ik of the track, which, being on the jpgrade, is a better test than the half-mile to the finishing post in the straight. This latter was the course taken bp Jack Tar, who recorded the fastest half-mile of the morning. Hidden 'by L. Clifford, he was not being unduly pressed to beat Gamos (G. Smith) in 49 !;-ss. Comparable with this trial was that of Clur Jean (McTavish), who registered 4!) 4-ss. She is to be ridden by 0. Evans at Te Rapa to-morrow. Royevrus (E. Clifford) was in front of Bonstar (E. Smith) in 49 2-ss—an effort that showed Royevrus to be reaching his best form. Tellsom Discloses Dash After covering tlireo furlongs in 36 2-ss, Miss Eureka (E. Smith) and Little Star (E. Clifford) were eased to complete half a mile in 51s. This time wast equalled by Tellsom (Curwen) in beating Nordic Song (Hatwell), tho first three furlongs in this instance occupying 36 l-ss, and by Veritable , (Stratton), wlio finished strongly. Gladynev (McTavish) and Princess Val (L. Clifford) took 50s. Bachelor King (Bartle)i and Dauber (Beguley) hit out freely iin 50 2-ss, continuing for another furlong at a solid pace. Tepoto (Coleman) finished five furlongs nicely in 1.2, the first three taking 36 3-ss. High Sea (Beguley) and Silver Glow (Parkinson) took 1.5 3-5, their stable nuates, Brazilian (Parkinson) and Pleuron (Beguiey), being given a like task, but they were not tuned. Valamitb and Round Up Inver (L. Clifford) moved pleasingly over six furlongs in 1.16 2-5, the first three furlongs taking 38 l-os and the half-mile 50 2-J?s. Bronze Trail (Green) and King's lancer (Stratton) registered 1.18, Lady Fox (Bartle) leading them over the first half-mile in 50s. Mia Acra (Stratton) went the best part of seven furlongs, the last six in 1.18 3-5. He is fairly well. There was little between Valamito (McTavish) and Round Up (G. Smith) at the close of seven furlongs run in 1.29 1-5.

Parquet (Quedley) and Ivy Willonyx (Parsons) worked together over a mile in 1.4S 1-5, both hitting out freely. Several horses, including the improved, Estro, worked on the plough. Anopheles is to go to the Waikato for veterinary treatment. Saceone is again on the tracks, but it will be many weeks before he will be ready for racing.
