BOWLING TOURNEY
MATCHES AT TAURANGA POST-SECTION CONTESTS FINALISTS .MEET TO-DAY [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Thursday Post-section matches in the Tauranga Bowling Club's tournament were played to-day. Results were as follows:—
First Round.—Auckland (Walker). 24. v, Tauranga (Tamblyn), 20; Tauranga (Washer). 23, v. Rapanui (Handley), 16; To Aroha (Rosenfeldt), 19, v. Katikati (Mannix), 18; Carlton (Dcare), 22, v. Gisborne (Crowley), 21; Bucklands Beach (Brooks), 24, v. Carlton (de Launay), 23. The games were all closely contested to the final head.
Second Round. —Carlton (Deare), 21, v. Tauranga (Washer), 0; Te Aroha (Rosen* fcldW 24, v. Auckland (Walker), 23. In the early stages of the game between Walker and Rosenfeldt the former wa3 veil down, but tho team steadied. It was 10 down on the eighth head, but on the 14th was 1 up. The score on the 20th was 23-all. Rosenfeldt securing ono to win on the long final head.
Semi-final.—Te Aroha (Rosenfeldt) drew a bye, and Carlton (Deare) met Bucklands Beach (Brooks). Deare was well up in tho early stages but on the 11th head Brooks got six, and ou the 1-lth was 1 up, the score heiiu 14 —13. On the 10th Brooks was still 1 up, but Dearo secured four on the 20th and one on the last head. Deare will play the final against Rosenfeldt <Tc Aroha) to-morrow morning. DEVONPORT CLUB The following teams will represent the Devonport Bowling Club in marine pennant matches:— At Waitemata. Masters, Buckmitster, Brooks, A. T. Davies; Nay lor, Wrigtay, Lockley, Steele; Stoddart, Meiklo, Blackie, Trevithick; Maseman, Thornton, E. N. Davies, Gooding; Hogarth, Powell, Tainsh, Doherty. At Stanley.—Chapman, Ingham, Sullivan, Duthie; Jaughin, Grinrod, Proctor, Morgan; Kay, Watson, McDonald, Blackburn. Teams at home will be selected on the green.
A pairs tourney was held yesterday on the Devonport Bowling Club's green. The section winners were Waterman (Takapuna), Steele (Devonport) and Taylor (Mount Eden). In post-section play Waterman beat Steele and- will meet Taylor in the final later.
