. RISING TEMPERATURES MAINLY FINE CONDITIONS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —An anti-cyclone of slight intensity extends from the north Tasman Sea on to northern New Zealand. Pressure is falling over south-eastern Australia. The forecast is for northwesterly winds on parts of the east coast, otherwise south-westerlies prevailing at first, but westerlies or northwesterlies gradually becoming more general, moderate to strong and rising to gale force in some exposed Seas rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and rather rough on parts of the west coast, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea:: Moderate south-west to westerly winds, turning to northerlies and freshening; seas slight to moderate but riiiing in the southern portion. The weather is likely to be for the most part fair to fine, with rising temperatures, but scattered rains in the far south and extending later along western districts from Taranaki southward.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST

FAIR TO FINE AND WARMER

The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkrald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to fresh south-west to westerly winds. The weather is likely to be fair to fine, with rising temperatures. Seas moderate to rather rough on the west coast, slight to moderate on the east coast.

YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Conditions were fine, with a fresh south-south-west wind. The maximum temperature was £7 degrees and the minimum 58 degrees. Barometric pressure had a rising tendency. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 30.031rt, Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.92in| Wellington. —The weather wa3 fine with rising temperatures and a strong north-westerly breeze. The maximum temperature was 69.6 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer reading was 29.790 in. Christchurch. —The day was brilliantly fine, with _ a light southerly wind in the morning, which changed to north-easterly in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 73.0 degrees. The barometer at o p.m. was rising slowly at 29.81 in. Dunedin. There was a high wind from the south-west, but temperatures were mild, the maximum being 62 degrees.
