THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE DISCUSSIONS IN AUCKLAND Papers on a number of subjects of considerable engineering importance are to be presented by delegates attending the 25th annual conference of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers, which is to be opened in Auckland on Monday and will conclude on the following Friday. Sir. S. Irwin Crookes will preside and the conference will be held at Auckland University College. Delegates, who will be attending the conference from many parts of New Zealand, will be given an official welcome by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, and by the president of the Auckland University College Council, Mr. W. H. Cocker. The annual general meeting of the institution will be held on Monday and on Tuesday and Wednesday papers will be presented and discussions held. Thursday and Friday have been set aside for visits to various engineering works and for excursions, includingone to Titirangi and on through the Waitakere Scenic Drive to Swanson, then to . Whenuapai and Hobsonville air base. Industrial works and the Otahuhu railway workshops are also to be visited and a harbour excursion has been planned. Suitable arrangements for the entertainment of delegates' wives have been made by the Auckland branch.
