RELIABILITY TRIAL
CONTEST AT WEEK-END AUCKLAND TO ROTORUA Between 50 and 60 motorists, driving cars ranging from the smallest on the road. to some of the largest, will take part in a reliability trial to be held under the auspices of the New Zealand Motor-racing Drivers' Association tomorrow. The competitors will be required to cover about 250 miles, arriving eventually at Rotorua. by a route which it is at present unannounced. Starting from the open space in front of the Auckland railway station, competitors will bo sent away singly at brief intervals. The trial will be held whether the day is wet or fine and will include a number of tests to determine the ability of drivers to handle their cars.
The event will be decided on a points basis, marks being deducted for early or late arrival at any checking-point, breaches of the motor regulations or by-laws, failure in the various tests, and defects in the cars, which will be examined by experts on arrival. A danco will be held at Rotorua following the trial, and on Sunday morning there will be a separate series of driving competitions.
