DOMINION-WIDE SURVEY DATA FOR SHOE LASTS TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday Final arrangements for a survey of children's feet in the four centres, embracing the primary and secondary schools, so that standards may be laid down for lasts for children's shoes, have been made by the footwear committee of the New Zealand Footwear Manufacturer's' Association. The survey will be made by school medical officers and will cover children from the ano of five to tlioso in their teens. The information obtained will be used to lay down standards for lasts from which shoes will bo made permitting children's feet to grow normally. This is the first time that such a survey has been carried out in New Zealand. The association's object is to tit children with shoes which will eliminate the foot ailments prevalent among older persons. Certain data will be gathered from rural districts and schools outside the cities as well, so that the information obtained will bo representative of the Dominion.
