BUSH PRESERVATION

HON. W. E. PARRY'S POLICY PRAISE FOR DEER CULLERS [BY TELEGRAPH: —PBESS ASSOCIATION] . "WELLINGTON, "Wednesday There was 110 man or woman in the country who could 6it quietly by and permit the ravage that- had taken place to the bush of the Dominion to continue, said the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, when opening the native plant exhibition in the Dominion Museum to-day. Very serious inroads were being made on flora, he continued. He had said in no uncertain terms that so long as he was in his present position the war would be continued on every animal that was denuding New Zealand flora, and that policy was being pushed on in a vigorous fashion by the Internal Affairs Department. Last year 40,000 animals had been killed by deer cullers. They were a fine body of men, who had done splendid work during the last three or four years.

The Minister felt that every provision should be made for children to see the wonderful display at the exhibition. A real bush sense should b« created in the boys and girls of the Dominion, and all enthusiasm possible should be infused into the work of protecting the flora, particularly among the young people.
