GOOD FINISHES

ADVERSITY SUCCEEDS BILL B EXTENDED OLIVE KING JUST HEADED RETURN OF DICK REDMOND BY ABAYDOS Going; to the front early and trotting very solidly. Dick Redmond won the Manurewa Handicap, but with little enough to sparo from Air Pilot, who was always well placed. Gay Moko was a creditable third. The placed horses had the issue to themselves, and outclassed the others, of whom Aurumar performed best. The chief fancy, Audrey's Last, lost a deal of ground at the start through swinging round and breaking, but once on the journey ho trotted a useful race. All Bingen was in the picture to the homo turn, but failed to run on. Great Surprise, winner of the Trial Handicap on the first day, made several bad lapses and was never dangerous. Dick Redmond led to the mile in 2.27, and ran the distance in 4.48 off a 5.1 line. He returned double figures on tho win machine. Rey Ola's Advancement Although a littlo slow away, Rey Ola was early handy to the leaders, Neon Oro and Winhisway, in tho second division of the Waiheko Handicap, and when the leader broko Roy Ola trailed Winhisway to the , back, and eventually won easily, to pay a double-figure dividend to straight-out supporters. Winhisway put up his best showing for some time, and the three-year-old Auto Bingen confirmed the good impression ho made in the Derby as a potential stayer, after being well back. Nevertheless, none had a chance with Rey Ola over the last three furlongs, and he has made good improvement for A. W. Broughton. Tsana and Lady Keller are likely to derive benefit from tho raco. A Fine Two-year-old The favourite, Highland Scott, was slow to move in tho Great Northern Trotting Stakes, and when Now Then and Bonniedeno passed the half-mile well clear of Josette in 1.11, the U. Scott colt had a deal of leeway to make up. Charles Rex, who was several lengths from tho leaders, made a sharp move crossing tho top, and then Highland Scott put in a fast run. Once in lino for the judge, ho outpaced the opposition. He showed rare dash over the last couple of furlongs, and is a fine two-year-old. Josette made an excellent showing for second, while Now Then went surprisingly well. Bonniedene, who was forced to raco outside Now Then in tho first part, did not run on as expected, and Charles Rex faded after looking dangerous at the distance. Bracket Shares Honours Our Peggy went straight to tho lead in the Alexandra Park Handicap and slowed down tho field, taking 1.14 to reach the half-mile. There Sandusky went up and forced on the pace, Our Peggy still having charge at the mile in 2.20. At this stage, Bexley Girl, who lost a deal of ground at the start, began a inovo from tho rear, and down tho back Our Peggy and Sandusky just led Fernbrook Lass. Sandusky had sole charge at the distance and harddriven lie hung on to beat his unlucky stable-mate, Bexley Girl, who came home very solidly. Navy Blue ran on well, being half a length in advance of Gold Dredge, who showed a glimpse of her bettor form. Fernbrook Lass did not finish as well as on Saturday and both Our Peggy and Sir Frank weakened. Success for New Owner

Purchased on Monday by Mr. A. W> Ebbett, Hamilton, Adversity won the Farewell Handicap in a good finish with the consistent pacer Bedford. The latter displaced John's Last from the lead, with half the journey gone and was well clear of Adversity, Parauri, Kete Kura and Isabella Pointer at tho home turn. Responding'to M. Stewart's call, Adversity finished gamely. Isabella Pointer was a fair third. Kete Kura received a check, but ran on to be fourth. Adversity was unlucky in losing ground at the start on Saturday and was solidly supported. Bedford added to his long list of placed performances. . Young Pointer again ran creditably and is regaining form. Parauri fell a fnrlong from the finish. Form Works Out Well

The placed horses of the first day, Reception, Win liuon and Bingen Sun, fought out the finish of the Forbes Handicap, passing tho judge in reverse order. Nelson Chief made play for the major part of the two miles, when Win Huon took charge. Reception making up ground over the last half-mile. Nelson's Glory was fourth. Olive King Narrowly Beaten Olive King made a gallant effort to win the Rapgitoto Handicap all tho way, but she succumbed narrowly in a tight finish to Bill 13., who was permitted to be driven with a boring bit. Vanora, Red Frontier and Mute were handy to the leader for over a mile. Bill B. moved up at the top and reached Olive King at tho turn, to win by a head. Tangotu was a useful third, followed by Kewpie's Crest, who ran one of his best races. The winner was well handled by J. Bryco, who got a good reception. Outsider Wins Last Event Going to the front smartly, the outsider, Cyrano hung on to win the Richmond Handicap and pay just under a century and a-quarter on the win machine and close on a score for a place. Hillcrest, Harlow, Lady Potts and Lynn Rey were in the picture at tho quarter-mile, and Hillcrest ran on well to get within half a length of the winner. Lady Potts, who was forced to cover extra ground in the final stages, was a creditable third, with Lynn Rey, who did much better than on Saturday, close up fourth. Mandalnv, Harlow and Silk Lady all faded after having every chance.
