TEAM FROM AUSTRALIA INVITATION TO AUCKLAND MATCHES AT EASTER TIME As the result of a radio-telephone communication with Australia last evening, the Auckland Rugby League decided to extend an imitation to a leading Sydney club, and the names of prominent representative players were mentioned as likely to make the trip. The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said that tho original invitation was extended to the Balmain Club, but arrangements fell through owing to the failure of leadinc players to make the trip. "... Tho chairman added that a strong club team had now been invited, and acceptance would be finalised by cable. Arrangements wcro made for the Sydney team to arrive in Auckland a few days before Easter, and three matches will be played at Carlaw Park —on Easter Saturday, Easter Monday and on Wednesday, April 12. • , It was decided to open the club competition on Saturday, April 1, and, should the visit of a Sydney club team not eventuate, a representative fixture on Easter Monday, between Auckland and the Maoris, will be arranged. Tho gate receipts will go toward the injured players' Itund. An application for admittance as a junior club was approved from Newmarket. It was pointed out that there was every possibility of three teams taking part in competitions, and tho list of officers submitted was approved. It,- was decided to proceed with the compilation of an honours board, to include officers and players with 25 years' continuous service.
