"THE YOUNG IN HEART"

CLEVER COMEDY FOR CIVIC The producer of such films sis "A Star is Born" and "The Prisoner of Zend a,'' David Sclznick. has been equally successful in his latest production, "The Young in Heart," which will commence a season at the Civic Theatre to-morrow. This picture contains all the elements of a first-class comedy—clever dialogue, amusing situations'and excellent acting by the principal players. The entertaining story deals with the adventures of the Carleion family, living by their wits as they journey from city to trying to find wealthy victims for their schemes. The Dart of Mr. Carlctou is played by Poland Young, who will be remembered for his entertaining performance in "Topper." Carleton is a former actor who persists in his imaginary belief that lie is a retired colonel of the Bengal Lancers. Janet Ga.vnor and Douglas Fairbanks, jun., are the two children, with Billie Burke taking the role of the charming Mrs. Carlctou. The picture opens with the Carlotons staying in the Biviera district, but it is not. long before the police learn of their activities and they are forced to make a hurried departure across Europe. Arriving in England, they are prepared to wait for a suitable victim and one is found in the person of an elderly ladv, Miss Fortune, with whom the members of the family are soon on friendly terms. For their kindness to her, Miss Fortune is prepared to make them her heirs, but complications ensue when the hardened adventurers have a touch of conscience at the thought of robbing the well-meaning old lady. In the meanwhile, the two children, Ann and Bichard, have made many acquaintances with a view to marrying into rich families, but they eventually realise the folly of their life and their romances are brought to a satisfactory conclusion. Paillette Goddard. who was last seen in Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times," shows exceptional promise in her first talking picture role, while a charming performance is gfvwi by the New York actress Minnie Dnpree, as Miss Fortune. Other players; include Richard Carlson, Henry Stephenson, and Eily Malyon.
