SOCIAL SECURITY
Sir, —The social security pension fund comes into being on April 1, and the writer is of opinion that the recognised receivers will meet with the' same humiliation and degradation as those who are unfortunate enough to be on relief. Only those who are familiar with the hours, questions, doctors examinations, waiting about for half a day, know and realise what is ahead of the 60-year-old recipients. It was a pity the Minister of Labour had not been in Auckland's labour sustenance office on Tuesday to see some 100 or more unfortunate people out of work waiting like a lot of slaves for inquiry, doctor, etc., some waiting three to 3J hours. The Minister never sees this, and evidently approves of the miserable treatment, yet one hears there is work for all. Yes, but not yet. Fed Up.
