ADVISORY COUNCILS THE MINISTER'S PLAN CONFERENCE IN CITY TO-NIGHT The extension of a plan already operative in other centres for the establishment of industrial advisory councils will be considered by Auckland emplovers, workers and representatives of industrial and commercial organisations at a conference in the Town Hall to-night. The meeting has been convened bv the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P". C. Webb, who will outlino his desire for co-operation in ensuring more practical legislation satisfactory to everybody. The Minister's plan is stated to aim at the evolution of a more harmonious industrial machine. He has already described his proposals at conferences held in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill, and a considerable measure of support has been forthcoming. Help In Legislation Steps have been taken to form local councils, tvhich, through consideration of proposed Government industrial enactments, . are expected to assist materially in the removal of possible anomalies prior to the introduction of the legislation in the House of Repiosentatives. The meeting to-night is to be attended by employers, representatives of various industries, trade organisations, union representatives and local members of Parliament. A meeting of the district council of the lederatiou of Labour is also to bo held to-mght, but arrangements have been made loi unions to bo fully represented by executive officers other than delegates to the council.
