SCHOOL BUS SERVICE
RECORD AT OTOROHANGA TEACHERS ACT AS DRIVERS [FKOM OUlt OWN COUBESPONDENt] OTOROHANGA, Friday Eight large motor-buses are now used to take children to and from tlie Otorohanga District High School, which now has 700 pupils on the roll. The buses cover a distance of 280 miles a day, being driven by members of the teaching staff. Children are brought to the school from as far as 23 miles away. In tlie two and a-half years for which tho service lias been operated none of tho pupils has been injured in spite of the tortuous nature of the roads in the outlying districts and tho fact that tho buses maintain an average speed of about 35 miles an hour. A mechanic is permanently employed keepiug tho vehicles in good mechanical condition.
