HAWERA TRAINING YIRACIOUS GOES WELL PRETTY LASS SHOWS SPEED SMART FIVE BY DAISY CHAIN [BY TELEGIUPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAWERA, Monday Several useful efforts were registered at Hawera on Saturday when the fast work was executed on the plough, which was fairly fast. The best times were recorded by Virncious, Pretty Lass, Fiancee and Daisy Chain. Kokako (Sexton), with tho assistance of Chief Lord (Ryan) over tho first three furlongs, traversed half a milo in 50 2-ss. He took no harm from his outing at Ashhurst, where ho was not handled to the best advantage. Lady Kyra (Cochrane) got to the end of six furlongs without being hurried in 1.18 2-5. She is in good order. Dark Eaglo (Prisk) and Professional were on terms at the end of half a mile in 50 2-ss. Fiancee (Ryan) displayed her usual brilliance while covering five furlongs in 1.2 2-5. She is galloping in great style, and should soon leave the novice ranks. From an uneven start Viracious (Holland), Te Huia (Sexton) and Naughty Marietta (Ryan) finished at intervals at tho end of six furlongs in 1.15. Viracious hit out very freely and should bo prominent at Opunake. Naughty Marietta received the worst of the start, but completed her task in good style. Pretty Lass (Sexton), with an advantage in the weights, had the measure of Silver Gift (Colo) at the conclusion of half a mile in 49 4-ss. Pretty Lass failed to show up during the holidays, but should be heard of in the near future. Colonel Bunsby (Holland) and Resinguard (Fryer) wero associated over five furlongs in 1.4. Lo Marquis (Grylls) completed a round of strong work by running three furlongs in 42 2-ss. He is a likely sort. Gold Card (Fryer) sprinted tlirco furlongs in 375. Ramleh (Cavaney) and Lady Boden (Reilly) wero not asked to do their best while running six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Daisy Chain (Reilly) finished ahead of Golden Orchid (Ryan) at tho end of five furlongs in 1.2 2-5. Daisy Chain is much improved, as a result of tho light work allotted her since Marton. She may take a lot of beating at Opunake. Oak Light (Reilly) occupied 52 2-5s for half a mile. Friesland has resumed light work after an enforced spell. Ho appears quito sound again and in groat order to undergo another preparation. As he comes to hand very quickly, Friesland may bo ready to race in the late autumn.
