SUPPLY OF POWER

SERVICE LINE CHARGES BAY OF ISLANDS BOARD [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Tuosday A comprehensive report on the matter of service lines to consumers was submitted by the consulting, engineer, Mr. Lloyd Mandeno, at the last meeting of the Bay of Islands Power Board. The board went fully into the various aspects of the report and finally adopted charges for service lines in the rural areas which are exceptionally favourable to consumers, i Under the schedule of charges | adopted, substantial rebates on the cost of the service will be allowed to consumers who take full advantage of electric power in their homes and milking sheds. In the towns and villages the charges will be higher than in the rural areas, as the cost of the lines will be greater where insulated lines have to be used. \ The engineer also reported that materials were now coming to hand, and after the holidays a start would be made with the erection of the transmission lines in the Kaikohe district. The poles had already been distributed along the route lines and a canvass made of a section of the district for consumers had proved most satisfactory.
