GOVERNMENT'S OBJECTIVE MORE HOMES FOR PEOPLE The Government's main problem for the new year, according to a statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, published in the Labour newspaper the Standard was to get New Zealand working at high pressure, and that did not apply just to one line, but to all lines. Mr. * Savage added that his remarks were particularly applicable to the building of homes for the people. "We have done very well up to the present," said the Prime Minister, "but wo have got to do a great deal more. We must get more building tradesmen, and if we cannot get them here we must bring them in from outside." The building of New Zealand industry was not something that could be talked about at length and nothing done about it, cotinued Mr. Savage. Karlv in the new year the acid test would be applied in regard to the future development of New Zealand. "If the people will only forget about the election and think about the development of New Zealand industries we can succeed," he added. "We are doing remarkably well at present in the production of many lines, but we have got to do better and do more in the production of those lines."
