CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
Sir, —Before the final rush of Christmas buying, may I draw the attention of shoppers in general to the necessity of giving more thought to the origin of the gifts purchased. So much foreign merchandise is on display at prices so low that it is no doubt a big temptation to people who want to get as many things as possible for a given sum of money. if they will pause and reflect on what we may call the return flow of purchasing money it will be found that too great a proportion is flowing back to foreign countries on a low standard of living and too small a proportion goes back to the Britisher.
