OBITUARY

MR. JAMES JACKSON r [from OUIt OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday The death hns occurred at Whangarei of Mr. Jamos Jackson, at the age of 86 years. Mr. Jackson was born in England and came to New Zealand as a young man. He founded one of the first businesses in Whangarei, being in the carrying trade when the place was only a small village. Ho continued in business until about 13 years ago, when lie retired. Mr. Jackson was a foundation member of the Salvation Army in Whangarei, being the first Salvationist in this district. He was a member of tho Whangarei Borough Council for three terms. He is survived by his wife.
