BRUTAL ASSAULT
MAN STJFFEKS SEVEBELY UNCONSCIOUS ON ROADWAY TWO ASSAILANTS ESCAPE Thy teleobaph —own correspondent] TE ABOHA, Sunday Hearing angry voices followed by tho sound of blows at about 11.30 p.m. on Saturday night in front of his home in Koromiko Street, Te Aroha, Mr. Robert Taylor went to investigate and was in time to surprise two young men who were .assaulting an unconscious figure on the roadway. The assailants made off, and upon investigation the victim was found to be Mr Mark Rogers, radio mechanic, of Te Aroha. He had been severely assaulted and was bleeding freely from wounds on the scalp and face. A doctor was called and the injured man was taken to Kenwyn Hospital. was suffering from concussion and a badly injured eye, in addition to extensive abrasions. No arrest has been made. Mr. Rogers has been unable so far to give a statement.
