RELIGION IN LIFE
INTEREST OP YOUNG PEOPLE * t , *. i *1 .'!r»; i,.' SCIENTIFIC. CHRISTIANITY ■ J., ' "Throughout the Dominion I found a great interest on the part of youth, who seem to bo "quite prepared to recognise that there is a definite need for religion in tlieir life, but, who want it scientifically and in a manner that squares with the ideals of youth." This statement was made by Dr. Alfred G. Hall, director-general of the World Fellowship of Faith _ and Service, Toronto, who arrived in Auckland on Saturday night from the South. Dr. Hall has been in the Dominion for tho past two months speaking on psychological and scientific Christianity. "There is a tremendous interest in divine healing in New Zealand," continued Dr. Hall. "People are not, however, interested in an emotional form of divine healing, but in the cold reasoning that produces a direct relationship with God. Such a reasoning indicates that healing is a reward of Christian living, rather than an answer to supplication." As-'a'result of his visit, Dr. Hall said, a teachers' training conference would be opened in Auckland in the Lewis Eady Hall to-day and would be attended bv students from all parts of New Zealand. It would last for 12 days. Public sessions would bo held to-day, to-morrow and on Wednesday. Dr. Hall will speak at tho Auckland Rotarv , Club's luncheon to-day on "Tho 'Hope of New International Relations." He said ho was astonished at tho tremendous interest business men in tho Dominion-.were Blowing in this question. Ho wait ".impressed with their desire to create within New Zealand a definite interest in tho problems of other countries.
