MASS COOKING
VICTORIAN PROPOSAL USE IN EMERGENCY Mass cooking will be taught to thousands of young girls in Victoria, Australia, as part of the national emergency plan, if a proposal by Mrs. Weber, is adopted. Mrs. Weber's plan is that attractive holiday camps, at which camp cooking and first-aid would form part of the programme, should be organised. She considers that most women can cook in their own homes, but tlmt they have never had to cope with mass cooking. Training in this would be useful in any national emergency such as fire, earthquake of other calamity. The plan embraces women as well as girls, and the support of the Victorian Education Department for the teaching of cooking has already been promised. Lists of suitable teaching centres are now being prepared. Mrs. Weber is also urging all Church organisations to support the women's national emergency proposals. She states that the spiritual influence is most necessary, and the banning of liquor from all such plans is necessary for discipline.
