JHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE attitude of uncertainty An atmosphere of uncertainty regarding tin* full significance of the Government's trade control regulations existed on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Holders of Australian issues tended to remain off the market and levels consequently firmed. Business direct'with Australia was difficult, owin«x to the inability oi' brokers to secure drafts. loans sold freely. Tho 31 per cent inscribed stock suffered a setback, but other issues were activo at about late rates. More dealing took place in banks. Jv'cw Ze;:lands changed hands readily anil after an improvement levels eased a shade. Nationals of New Zealand and Australasias lost ground, but Commercials rose slightly. Classified industrials were weak and Auckland Gas reached the low level of 18s ;ld.. New Zealand issues were quiet, with an easier trend. Offers for the majority of Australian industrials strengthened, but sellers were hard to locate.
