TUAKAU INTERESTS
TAR SEALING OF ROAD MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD LOAN [rnoji ot'R owx correspondent] TUAKAU, Wednesday. Advice was received from the Main Highways Board at the Tuakau Town Board's monthly meeting that tho board would lend .tho town board £SOO as the latter's share of tho cost of tarsertlihg the portion of tho TuakauPokeno highway known as Bollard Iload. Tho loan is to bo repayable over three years and tho rate of. interest to bo per cent. If was stated that approximately 65 chains of the road was to be sealed, and tho total cost was estimated to bo in the vicinity 'of £2OOO. Advice was received from the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. J?. Seinple, that the question of eliminating the level crossing 011 'tho railway at Tuakau was being fully gone into. The advice from tho Minister follows representations made on tho town board's behalf by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Leo Martin, in view of the prospect of the early duplication of tho railway lino through Tuakau.
