BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH
DRAINAGE COMPLETED All contracts for tho installation of tho sewerage system at Birkenhead have been completed, and it is anticipated that from next Monday connections will bo permitted to tho reticulation in tho pumping area between Marama Terrace and the ferry wharf. Tho engineer, Mr. 1?.. I'. Worlcy, advised tho Borough Council' last night that tho total contract amount for reticulation and outfall works was £26,919 and the total cost £26,524. The commissioner of transport, Mr. G. L. Laurenson, advised that control of traffic at Birkenhead was now supervised by the chief traffic inspector at Auckland; _ '■ • It was decided to afford the fullest co-operation in the road safety campaign and to send congratulations to tho Minister of Transport, the Hon. 11. Semple, for tho energetic efforts employed to reduce the toll of tho road.
